Finest of all things I have left is the light of the sun,
Next to that the brilliant stars and the face of the moon,
Cucumbers in their season, too, and apples and pears.
Praxilla (Greek, 5th century BCE)
Fragment of a hymn to Adonis, trans. Bernard Knox
The publishers of Queen: a journal of rhetoric and power are proud to present their new, on-line literary site, Praxilla.
Praxilla seeks to provide opportunity for writers to offer the deep insight that comes only by wringing as much as possible out of language. We are dynamic, free from the confines of physical space and temporal deadlines. Works are published quarterly. Poetry and narrative are allowed to live and breathe as the vigorous, critical (if always suspicious) forces they have played since the beginning of human culture.
All copyright remains with the writers themselves. If you wish to republish anything, contact the authors directly. Respect their work printed here as published work requiring citation and permission.
We hope you enjoy.
