Submissions
Queen: a journal of rhetoric and power, currently accepts submissions related to specific topics identified in their Calls for Submissions. We publish semi-annually. We are happy to accept guest editorships and suggestions for topics, but all such requests must first meet the approval of the editorial board, and final acceptance of the proposed volume and the submitted essays lies in the hands of the two Senior Editors. The editors of Queen only accept electronic submissions. We do so in order to encourage authors, poets, playwrights, photographers, videographers, and any other artists, to take full advantage of the internet/hypertext and multi-media medium, which we believe is the future of publication. The following guidelines may help clarify: Articles: We encourage HTML submissions, but please do not convert a Microsoft document into HTML by means of their built-in feature to do so. It is horrifically proprietary and creates a lot of work for us. If you do not know how to create an HTML document, go ahead and send us a document in .RTF format and we will convert. Photographs: Please submit .JPEG files of any size. We will resize them to fit our format. Photographic essays should also come with a brief introductory paragraph or two (even a full essay, if you wish) that helps set up the story. Each photograph should also have a caption - attach this as an email text from which we can work, identifying the appropriate photo for the given caption. Videography: Please submit clips in QuickTime video format (MPEG-4, preferrably). We will not accept Windows Media, as it is proprietary. It, too, should come with an introductory paragraph or two that sets up the story. Plays: Send along a .PDF of the manuscript, along with a paragraph on the writer, a history of performances, relevant notes regarding the company performing the play, etc. Here are the rules: All submissions must be complete at the time of submission and must be accompanied by an abstract (those "one or two paragraphs" mentioned above). The abstracts are sent to the editorial board for consideration blind, i.e., without mention of the author/playwright/performer's name. If they are accepted, the submissions themselves are sent to specific editors for a referreed reading. If accepted, you will be notified, complete with any changes requested (and a deadline to meet those changes). You will have a chance to view the work prior to publication, so that you can submit changes, edits, etc. Apparently, it is important for people to know that we have an ISSN (see above) and that we are referenced in citation literature (we are, especially on-line). So, in summary:
