The Centre is dedicated to the interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary
and transdisciplinary exchange of ideas in rhetorical theoretics,
critical analytics and hermeneutics across all disciplines.
We
encourage submissions to our journal, Journal
for the Study of Rhetorical Criticism of the New Testament,
dedicated to modern rhetorical approaches to biblical interpretation
(of particularly New Testament texts, as well as extra-canonical
literature). The purpose of this journal is to make available
to a broad audience any exploration into the rhetorical analysis
of the Christian Testament and Hebrew Bible, including
pre-publication and pre-conference drafts of paper for commentary,
critique and review.
We
also sponsor the experimental journal, Queen:
a journal of rhetoric and power, dedicated to the
interdisciplinary and experimental exploration of critical rhetorics
and power.
Membership
in the Centre includes:
- Participation
in our conferences, currently scheduled bi-annually. Recent
conferences have been held at Claremont University, in
sponsorship
with the Institute for Antiquities and Christianity, and
at the University of Redlands. They have included discussions
and dialogues on hermeneutics & rhetorics (conference
in honor of Wilhelm Wuellner) and on the rhetorics of healing.
Upcoming conference will address the relationship of rhetoric,
evil and violence.
- Early
notification of Calls for Papers for these, and other
future
conferences and Queen issues.
- Free
subscription to Queen (cheap).
